🦋 CO₂ and Diode Lasers
To engrave metal blanks with a CO₂ or diode laser, you’ll need to apply a marking spray that bonds with the surface when lasered.
Recommended Marking Sprays:
- Brilliance
- CerMark
- LaserBond
- OmTech Spray
Make sure your machine is aligned properly, your lens is clean, and your focal height is accurate.
Suggested Starting Settings:
-
40W–60W CO₂ Lasers
Speed: 100–200 mm/s
Power: 80–100%
DPI: 300–500
Passes: 1–2 (a second pass may deepen the mark)
Air Assist: OFF -
100W+ CO₂ Lasers
Speed: 200–300 mm/s
Power: 60–80%
DPI: 500+
Passes: Usually 1
Air Assist: OFF
🌿 If your engraving looks faint, try lowering the speed or increasing power. For more even results, try higher DPI and ensure you're focused correctly.
🦋 Fiber Lasers
Perfect for direct metal engraving. Keep your lens clean and ensure your piece is focused properly.
-
Deep Engraving
Speed: 100–300 mm/s
Power: 60–80%

High-Contrast Black Marking
